Ayoba Gaming Hackathon Crowns New Winners
As an African SuperApp, we love getting to engage some of the most exciting young talents in African tech and one of the ways we do this is through our Hackathons. On the 21st of May, we invited African game developers across the continent to join us for the 2023 Ayoba Gaming Hackathon and we were proud to crown 3 winners at the very end of a gruelling but pulsating hackathon!
Our event took place at one of the homes of young tech in Africa, the Tshimologong Precinct in Johannesburg, and invited some of the edgiest, most creative and most talented gaming developers from across various backgrounds for one goal: to be crowned the winner of the 2023 Ayoba Gaming Hackathon. Once they were introduced to the task at hand, the gaming maestros wasted no time in getting behind their computers and coding like their reputations depended on it!
It might have been an extremely fun occasion, but make no mistake, it was extremely challenging! One participant took to social media to reveal that the pressure was definitely a factor in this Hackathon when they said: "The most testing and intense hackathon I've done yet. But soooo much learning and fun was had. Last day of #AyobaGamingHack What a time to be alive!"
In the end, three winners were chosen, namely Atrybute Graphics from Johannesburg who came third for their game Herbanetics, Pineapple On Pizza from Cape Town who came second with their Braai Guy Game and Last Minute Digital who won for their shooter game Gwinya Fighter and were crowned our ultimate winners.
